Smart Ways To Stay Hydrated Without Drinking Water

As temperatures soar, so does the risk of becoming dehydrated. Your fluid needs will go up in the summer and in the hot weather. Although plain water is the best thirst quencher, there are ways to stay hydrated without drinking water.

If water is not readily available or you are travelling, here are the best alternatives to plain water:

  1. Fruits and Vegetables. One of the best ways to hydrate the body without drinking water is to eat fruits and vegetables with high water content. We’ve already listed down some of the best fruits and veggies to eat to stay hydrated but if you need a refresher, watermelon, celery, cucumber, kale, and green leafy vegetables are just a few of the many foods that will fill you up and quench your thirst. At 93% water, watermelon is one of the most delicious ways to get your fluids without downing straight H2O. It’s also a fantastic way to transport water over long distances and has been for over 4,000 years. Besides keeping you hydrated, this succulent fruit is loaded with nutrients that your body needs. While eating fresh fruits and vegetables is not enough to hydrate the body, they’ll do in a pinch. Our advice is to fortify your meals with these whole foods to increase your fluid intake but drink a glass of water as soon as possible.
  2. Coconut water. Not everyone will find the taste of coconut water pleasant. But if you don’t mind it, it’s a good way to stay hydrated.
  3. Freshly squeezed fruit. If you are one of the people who find water to be tasteless, then juice your way to better health! Fresh fruit juice is loaded with essential nutrients including antioxidants that promote better health. The drink is a great thirst quencher too! You can mix different types of fruits and vegetables to make your drink even more nutritious. We highly suggest mixing fruit juices with a little water to reduce the sugar content of the drink.
  4. Raw Foods. You can eat it straight, put it in smoothies, salads, even some easy raw vegan desserts. Raw foods up your water intake without drinking, while also getting in some amazing nutrients that are often lost with cooking. The heat from cooking removes a significant amount of water from your food. Frying causes evaporation, while baking provides a powerful dry heat to remove moisture. Think of how wet cake batter is before you put it in the oven. Fruit and veggies are similarly full of water before cooking.
  1. Soups and stew. Soups and stews not only keep you hydrated, but they’re also a delicious way to get your veggies. From heartwarming macaroni soup to soothing mushroom soup, any type of soup will keep you hydrated. So, drink up that bone broth, chicken soup or vegetable soup. The water in it counts too when it comes to hydration.
  2. Milk. If you’re looking for a great sub for plain water or whole milk, try drinking skim milk. It’s nutritious, delicious, and it’s perfectly hydrating too. Skim milk is loaded with calcium and other essential nutrients that promote healthy bones. This dairy product is much easier on the digestion compared to whole milk. In addition, skim milk is not as fattening as regular milk. And get this, studies show that skim milk is one of the best beverages to take for faster hydration and recovery.
  3. Soda water. Flavored soda water tastes just as refreshing as sodas sans the artificial preservatives and sugars. You can mix a little fruit juice to add flavor to a glass of soda water and it will taste just like soft drinks. The best part? Soda water is accessible; you can buy a bottle at your local convenience store. If you need a boost of hydration at any time of the day, just take a bottle of soda water with you
