But for Corona virus trying to take the shine off sporting events, we had a most interesting week in sports. Nearly 500 people playing various roles in the forthcoming Australian Open were asked to go on isolation. The NBA season is blowing up big time as the big boys are beginning to show their dominant form. Manchester United might have blown Southampton out of the water with a wicked 9-0 scoreline but the biggest Sporting event of the weekend belongs to the other football…The Super bowl!!!
Fans Look Towards The Women’s Tournament For Excitement In The Australian Open
No thanks to the Corona virus, we might have a not-so-spectacular Australian Open tournament this year. There’s no Andy Murray and Roger Federer, so the Men’s tournament will be relying heavily on Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal for all the adrenaline action.
The tournament’s fireworks, however, will be in the Women’s game. The ageless Serena Williams will be throwing her hat in the ring. Homegirl, Ashleigh Barty, won’t be lacking home support. Her games should be boisterous. The exciting Coco Gauf will be in there too and not to forget Naomi Osaka.
There will be huffing, there will be puffing and breaking of racquets as the upsets starts coming in! The Australian Open starts Monday 8 February. Tune in on the excitement.

The NBA Hots Up As The All-Star Weekend Comes Hurtling In At Breakneck Speed
One of the biggest showcases in the NBA is the All-Star Weekend. The weekend festival which holds during the middle of the NBA regular season consists of a variety of basketball events, exhibitions, and performances culminating All-star Game, which pitches the best players of the Eastern Conference against their Western counterparts.
Pay no attention at all the NBA stars like Le Bron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard who claim they aren’t particularly excited about this season’s All-Star Weekend. When the chips are down, they will go all out trying to out-do each other for the season’s bragging rights, it’s the tradition.
Even though Kevin Durant will be missing because of Covid restrictions, look out for the Brooklyn Nets vs Philadelphia 76ers game on Sunday night. Joel Embid and James Harden, regular season MVP favourites, will be knocking down serious baskets in the game between the potential season’s Eastern Conference Finalists.

Juve Plotting Top 3 Comeback Bid As They Host Roma
The end has not been heard of last week’s clash between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku as the Italian Football Federation has launched its own investigation into the bitter altercation. Zlatan denied using racist language in the fight which saw him and Lukaku getting yellow carded during the Coppa Italia derby. Both players could be looking at further punishment from the Italian FA.
On the pitch, the weekend’s star match will be between 3rd-placed Roma and 4th-placed defending champs, Juventus at the Juventus Allianz Stadium. Juve comes into the game as the in-form team on the back of 5 straight wins while Roma could only manage 2 wins, with 2 losses and 1 draw in their last 5 games. Juve rarely loses at the Juve Arena, if Roma is to hold on to 3rd place, they must at least draw the match. This is Ronaldo’s birthday weekend, expect the GOAT to have at least a goal involvement, a goal or an assist. It’s a Juve win all the way.

Lille To Consolidate Ligue 1 Top Spot With Victory Over Floundering Nantes
While PSG are trying to figure out how to remove the Marseille obstacle before them, LOSC Lille will be the one making all the big moves in the title race in Ligue 1. Table-toppers Lille will be looking to increase their lead on the table when they visit 17th-placed Nantes. The floundering Nantes have been winless in their last 14 matches, so this should be easy for Lille, right?
Football is like biscuits, you can never tell where it breaks, Lille will be keeping an eye on Lyon and PSG, while overlooking the fact that Nantes is coached by former France coach, Raymond Domenech. The match looks easy but could be Lille’s banana peel. No less than 3 goals in the match, it’s Lille’s too lose but Nantes won’t be rolling over for them.

Title Hopes Hang By A Thread As Mancity Juggernaut Comes To Anfield
All eyes will be on Anfield this weekend as the juggernaut known as Manchester City will attempt to smother Liverpool’s title hopes at Anfield. Before the Reds loss to Burnley, 2 home games away, Anfield had been a fortress.
Liverpool slaughtered everyone that came calling for 3 years, 6 months and 29 days! Since Burnley caused them to stumble, Brighton and Hove Albion have taken 3 points off Liverpool too.
Pep Guardiola’s City come to Anfield on the back on 9 straight wins in the league (13 in all competitions)! City has the stingiest defense in the league presently and has a 7-point advantage over Liverpool with a game in hand. This game will be personal between Jurgen Klopp and Pep!
While it looks like Liverpool’s goose is cooked, Mancity has failed to beat Liverpool at Anfield since 2003. So expect a scored draw between these 2 giants but should Liverpool lose, it’s bye-bye to the title defense.

Kansas City Chiefs Square Off Against Tampa Bay Bucs In Super Bowl 55!
This is the biggest sporting finale in the world in all ramifications! The Super bowl – the grand-daddy of them all!
It’s got the biggest half time show – headlined by The Weekend (- the American Starboy…Wizkid is ours in Africa, no apologies!)
The biggest halftime advert budget – 30-second ad segment going for $5.6 million! And the biggest bet – Someone’s put $3.4million on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday.
It’s the battle of two great Quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) vs Tom Brady (Bucs). Mahomes is playing his 2nd straight Super bowl with the Chiefs while Tom Brady is playing his 10th!!!
The last team to beat the Buccaneers was (you guessed right) the Chiefs last November 2020 during the regular season. Tampa is the first team to play the Super bowl in their home stadium.
Very little separate these 2 great teams. Which team will be winning Super bowl 55 rings? Patrick Mahomes might be the NFL history all-time passer, don’t underestimate Tom Brady…Who are you tipping to win it?!
