Police Arrest Peaceful Demonstrators Including Mr. Macaroni At Renewed #LekkiTollgate Protests
No other language captures the developing situation at the Lekki Tollgate but utter suppression of the will of the people as security agencies started the arrest of peaceful demonstrators at the renewed protests on Saturday morning.
Several peaceful demonstrators had their phones and other mobile devices forcefully confiscated by men of the Lagos State Police Command in an apparent attempt to suppress renewed calls for justice this Saturday morning.
The reason for such show of force at the venue of the #OccupyLekkiTollgate isn’t unconnected with the state government’s planned resumption of operations of the Lekki Toll plaza, which has met stiff resistance from the youths.
Among those arrested is popular internet sensation and comedian, Debo Adebayo aka Mr. Macaroni.
Mr. Macaroni, like other young citizens joined the peaceful protests opposing the reopening of the Lekki toll gate following the shooting and alleged killing of peaceful protesters on October 20, 2020.
