Sheik Gumi Says Herders Aren’t Criminals, Indicts Government On Banditry

Sheik Gumi Indicts Government On Armed Conflict

The arguments and counter-arguments on the current controversial bandits and armed Fulani herdsmen debate got even hotter, messier and complex with the dimension introduced by famous peace-broker, Sheik Ahmad Gumi.

Prominent Islmaic cleric and self-styled peace-broker, Sheik Gumi, has introduced another dimension to the current banditry and armed Fulani herdsmen debate, and it’s like adding fuel to the already burning fire.

Kaduna-based cleric and recently self-appointed armed bandits mouthpiece, Sheik Gumi, had said the armed Fulani herdsmen aren’t bandits but militants on their own right, fighting for the survival of their ethnic tribe.

Speaking on a widely publicized television programme, Politics Today, the self-appointed peace broker said tackling the armed herdsmen’s dilemma is a complex issue which can only be resolved by dialogue.

Gumi, who himself was a graduate of the Nigeria Defence Academy and former Army Captain, made another damning revelation – one which indicts the Nigerian government, the Nigerian military have classified information about the location of the armed bandits but aren’t make moves to tackle them.

If Gumi’s disclosure isn’t further stoking the already combustible mix, it has implicated the government in the terrible state of the country’s insecurity.

Officially, the Presidency nor the military has denied Sheik Gumi’s accusations.

When questioned if the armed bandits are Nigerians by the show’s anchor, Seun Okinbaloye, Sheik Gumi said:

“They are Nigerians. I hate to call them bandits. They are militants fighting for ethnic survival. They want to defend themselves. If there is peace, you will not see such things as banditry, kidnapping among others.”

The explosive expose didn’t end there. Sheik Gumi made further earth-shaking revelations. He further said of the armed Fulani herders,

“When bandits go to a Fulani village, they go in groups and ransack the village just to revenge. It is a form of revenge. It is not because of criminality, it is ethnic revenge.”

One thing is certain on the state of Nigeria’s insecurity that someone in government has been economical with the truth. And the cankerworm has eaten far deeper than the government is revealing.

The question now is, with Sheik Gumi’s damning revelations, do you think the government is capable of tackling the marauding bandits and armed Fulani herders or the government should go to the negotiation table to find an amicable end to the killings being recorded around the nation?

Ministry Of Health Warns Of Fake COVID-19 Vaccines In Circulation

Watch Out For Fake Covid Vaccines In Circulation

The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, has made a disclosure that fake Covid-19 vaccines may have already been in circulation in the country.

Dr. Enahire made the alarming discloure at the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Monday.

The minister said an elaborate plan is already in the works by some unscrupulous persons to perpetrate large scale fraud and spread their fake vaccines as soon as the government’s Covid-19 vaccines consignment starts getting circulated.

Knowing how desperate Nigerians can be sometimes, this warning isn’t unfounded or out of place.

Dr. Enahire said at the PTF briefing Nigeria has no intentions of procuring Covid-19 vaccines for the country’s vaccination programme from private importers or contractors.

Reiterating Dr. Enahire’s statement, PTF chair and Secretary to the Government, Mr. Boss Mustapha, has asked citizens not to buy uncertified vaccines from the black market out of desperation.

It may be inconceivable in other climes but desperation could make Nigerians break the law flagrantly. The government might be playing safe and warning the people ahead this time.

The PTF had said the country is scheduled to receive an initial four million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines as soon as the end of February 2020, and that Nigerians would need to be patient about distribution of the vaccines.

Nigeria currently has recorded about 153,000 Covid-19 infections with 129,000 recoveries.

One question though…Why isn’t the government saying who are being the circulation of these fake Covid-19 vaccines? Story for another day apparently.

The waiting queue could be endlessly long when vaccination does start, would you (in a bid to take care of yourself) buy Covid-19 vaccines from the black market to protect yourself from the disease? Be honest, please…

Mexican Drug Lord El’ Chapo’s Wife Arrested In The US For International Drug Trafficking

Emma Coronel – Mrs. El Chapo Arrested For Drug Trafficking

The name, Emma Coronel Aispuro, might not ring a bell but mere mentioning she’s Mrs. El’ Chapo will get ears perking up. The wife of the international drug dealer has been arrested and will be facing charges in the USA.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, the 31-year-old wife of the notorious head of Mexico’s Sinaloa drug cartel, Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, has been arrested by the US government. Guess for what…Being involved in the family business – selling drugs.

She was picked up at the Dulles International Airport in the state of Virginia and is facing charges for conspiracy to distribute drugs; heroin, cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamines. Basically for unlawful importation of drugs into the country.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office is investigating her case and would be itching to nail and keep her in jail like her notoriously feared hubby. Emma is also alleged to have helped El Chapo in his failed prison break saga of 2015.

Since snitches get stitches, the US wouldn’t be expecting to talk now, would they?

Emma Coronel was born in Santa Clara, California and is the daughter of Ines Coronel Barreras, a Sinaloa cartel henchman.

She met El Chapo at the 2007 Coffee and Guava Festival beauty pageant in Canelas, Durango, Mexico. He reportedly proposed to her at end of the event, surrounded by over a hundred of henchmen and others.

Coronel and El Chapo got married in 2007 and 2 children (9-year-old twin daughters) together.

Despite his being in jail at the Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado USA, El Chapo is still very much in charge of the Sinaloa cartel, which is now partly led by his sons.

Senator Smart Adeyemi Calls Abia Governor ‘Drunkard’ On Senate Floor In Tit-For-Tat Drama

Senator Adeyemi – The Protagonist Of Name-Calling Drama During Senate Proceedings

The Nigerian political scene will never be devoid of drama and petulant behaviour as Tuesday’s proceeding recorded another one on the floor of the senator.

Senate proceedings was almost totally disrupted by the offhand comment of Kogi Senator, Smart Adeyemi, about Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Senator Adeyemi stirred the hornet’s nest while making a contribution to a motion on Safe School Initiative in Nigeria, he commented that Abia is governed by drunkards.

Senator Adeyemi reacting to an earlier jibe made about his governor by a senator from Abia had reportedly said (in part),

“In some states where we have highly intelligent people, highly educated people, very enterprising people, like Abia, they are governed by drunkards. The governor of Abia is a champagne drinking man. Abia people are impoverished more than ever before. Abia people are unfortunate.”

A very flustered and angry Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe from Abia State was said to have challenged Adeyemi for his careless talk.

It was said the jibe was aimed at Senator Abaribe for a social media post where he reportedly made a disparaging remark about the Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.

Senator Abaribe, a man known for his fearlessness on the senate floor, denied making insulting remarks about the Kogi governor in any post and said his colleague must have ascribed what another person posted to him.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan, however, was said to have cautioned Senator Adeyemi against insulting the Abia governor and sued for peace.

On a serious note, shouldn’t there be a penalty for such careless talk and petulant behaviour in the Senate Chambers? What punishment do you suggest be meted out for careless talk in the National Assembly to erring lawmakers?
