The manager of the demolished Prodest Hotel, Eleme is one of the 27 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Rivers state.
The Rivers state government pointed out that the development validates its proactive fight against COVID-19, Vanguard reports.
The Rivers state government said the development justifies its proactive fight against coronavirus.
Paulinus Nsirim, the state’s commissioner for information and communication, made the statement on Sunday, May 24, when giving an update about the COVID-19 cases in the state.
Nsirim noted that that the Prodest Hotel was demolished two weeks ago because the owner violated Executive Order 7 which banned the operation of hotels as a measure to check the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
He said members of the COVID-19 Taskforce who went to enforce the Executive Order were attacked leading to the death of one of them.
