Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has accused security agents in the state of compromising the restriction order on movement in the state.
He said that instead of diligently carrying out their duty, the security agents prefer to collect stipends and allow the people to pass, despite knowing they are not immune to the virus and also endangering their lives.
Governor Bello revealed that in the past two days, he had over 30 vehicles coming from Kontagora that were heading to Kano.
Visibly displeased with the development, he said, he was angry that the travellers had passed checkpoints on their way without being stopped thereby compromising the government’s effort.
To tackle the situation, the governor ordered the council Chairmen of nine local government areas in the state to quarantine anyone seen returning from Kano State for 14 days including their goods.
The councils are Tafa, Munya, Suleja, Paikoro, Bosso, Chachanga, Kontagora, Rafi, and Mariga.
Bello directed the security to be stationed on major roads from 3 pm to detail anyone who is coming from Kano.
